The new Pavilion of the China Science and Technology Museum is located at No. 5 Beichen East Road, Chaoyang District, east of the Asian Games residential area, West of the Olympic water system, South of the Olympic Games main stadium, Beiwang Forest Park, covers an area of 48,000 square meters, building scale 102,000 square meters, It is an important part of the three major concepts of "Green Olympics, Science and Technology Olympics, and Humanities Olympics" in the central area of the Olympic Park.

The first phase of the China Science and Technology Museum was completed and opened on September 22, 1988. The second phase of the project was completed and opened on April 29, 2000. The new museum was completed and opened on September 16, 2009.

The new museum of the China Science and Technology Museum has five theme exhibition halls: "Science Paradise", "Huaxia Light", "Exploration and Discovery", "Science and Technology and Life", "Challenge and Future", public space exhibition area and ball screen theater, giant screen theater, dynamic theater, 4D There are four special effects theaters such as theaters, in which the ball screen theater has two functions: screen movie screening and sky display.

As of 2013, the China Science and Technology Museum is the only state-level comprehensive science and technology museum in China.
